Held in May each year, the Western China International Economy & Trade Fair is the only national level fair integrating exhibitions, project negotiations and business conferences. The fair provides a platform for strengthening the economic cooperation and trade between Western China and other countries in the world.

The fair has been successfully held eight times in a row with increased levels of industrialization, internationalization and the general adoption of market principles. Past attendees have included Chinese and foreign state leaders, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, leaders of chambers of commerce and counselors of foreign countries.
The 9th Western China International Economy & Trade Fair will be held over the four day period at the Chengdu New Century International Convention & Exhibition Centre while simultaneous summits and forums will be running at nearby venues. This year's fair will have a strong emphasis on enhancing the economic and trade communication and cooperation with the developed countries in Europe and North America, as well as the neighbouring countries in East Asia, South-East Asia and South Asia.
