Approved by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the 9th Western China International Economy & Trade Fair (WCIETF) will be held during May 2008 in Chengdu, Sichuan . As part of the Fair, the China Civil Airports Association (CCAA) which is the official voice for 96 member airports in China, together with the Organizing Committee of the 9th Western China International Economy & Trade Fair 2008, will host the
China Regional Airport Conference 2008.
In China's aviation industry, strong growth is expected over the next five years with many opportunities to exploit. During the 11th Five-year Plan, 140 billion will be invested in the airport construction and operations to meet the growing demand for international air travel. A major part of the investment is to help the development of China's regional airports which contribute much to the regional economic development with roles both in terms of connecting with destination outside China for tourism trips, for freight and as providers of connecting services to hub airports. Progressive liberalization of air transport, together with trends to privatization and globalization are causing the roles of regional airports to change, for planning to become increasingly decentralized, and for the traffic to become more volatile. Regional airports are increasingly in competition for markets and strategic airport planning.
| In view of these issues, this conference will examine key issues to identify changes that are required to the regional airport planning process and regional airport management & operations as well as provide a platform for airports, airport planners, solution providers of air traffic management, safety management providers, airport solution providers and consulting companies to discuss the key strategies of airport operations & management and the future growth opportunities in China's regional airport industry. |
